Packable Windbreakers

The most important property of a windbreaker is being there when the wind arrives — and the shells that are there are the ones that packed small enough to bring.

So the packable is engineered backwards from the pouch: the jacket stuffs into its own zip pocket, the packed size is stated on the quote like any other spec, and the stuffed pouch has a loop that clips to a bag. An event crew’s box of fifty packed shells is the size of a box of forty t-shirts.

The trade is stated, not hidden: packable weight means a softer collar and a lighter hand than the classic team shell. For a jacket that lives in a kit bag eleven months a year, that is the right trade — and we will say when it is not.
